U.P. Veterans War memorial and park

The Upper Peninsula Veterans War Memorial honors the service and sacrifice of all U.S. armed forces members. It represents all 15 U.P. counties and commemorates veterans of conflicts from WWI through the Middle East.

Dedicated July 1, 2006, the memorial’s opening included a Huey helicopter fly-by and a large flag-raising by the 46th National Guard Co. A 30x60 ft garrison flag is flown on major holidays, requiring 24 people to raise it. A smaller flag flies on the other days.

A nearby park and pavilion with a restroom and horseshoes are available for veterans and their families to enjoy.
